Ways to offend your visitors
Just because you have an internet website, it dosen't mean you can ignore customer service and common curtousy when dealing with your visitors. Here a few ways to offend your visitors that will ensure they never return to your site again.
Broken Links - Nothing is more frustrating than searching a site a finding what you need, then having a broken link where the information should be. This makes it look like you are not paying attention to what's on your site, and your visitor will leave the site. Check your links once a week to make sure that they are working properly.
- Confusing navigation - This is more of a design issue, and very common even for large website. Your visitor should be able to surf your website easily. They should never come to a dead end or not be able to get back to your home page. Make your navigation links easy and simple to understand to avoid frustrated visitors.
- Page takes to long to load - Make sure your pages load quickly and efficently. Remember most people are using dial up so make sure your images are optimized. If your pages take too long to load your visitor will simply leave and go someplace else.
I'm sure there are other things that should be added to this list, but here's a good rule of thumb. Surf the internet yourself and write down all the things that annoy and frustrate you when you're trying to surf. Then avoid having these things on your site and you'll be in good shape.
